The Pink Shoes is a haunting and intimate collection of poems by Fíona Donaghey that navigates the landscapes of the mind - its turbulence, its beauty, its longing. From the depths of madness to the discipline of ballet, from childhood faith to the whispers of fairy tales, these poems unravel a deeply personal yet universal journey.
Through striking imagery and raw emotion, Fíona Donaghey captures the fragility of the human condition - moments of confusion, aching loss, and the quiet hope of companionship, whether found in faith, fantasy, or memory. Each section peels back a layer of experience, revealing the weight of mental illness, the grace of movement, the ghosts of childhood, and the longing for something just out of reach.
At once melancholic and uplifting, The Pink Shoes is a testament to resilience, an exploration of the mind's intricate weavings, and an ode to the beauty found even in sorrow.
