The year is 2350. Global warming has left its mark, but free energy has brought prosperity to many countries. Advances in technology have enabled half the world population to emigrate to other planets. But an unexpected threat to human fertility leads to plans for evacuation of the remaining population. Adjusting to the cultures of other planets is not always a straightforward process, and for some, the thought of leaving is unacceptable.

As people leave the planet, dark forces emerge, intent on taking over the Earth. While all this is happening, ordinary people are trying to live their lives, despite facing extraordinary challenges. We follow the lives of two families caught up in the developing conflicts, through a series of events that leave a scar on human history. Ultimately, human relationships create bonds which transcend planetary boundaries, leading to a deeper understanding of our home planet and its place in the universe.
