G J Lewis grew up in Redhill, Surrey. The only child of a war widow, his upbringing was unorthodox and isolating for much of his youth. The house had an extensive library, but with no books for children, and so he learned to read quite advanced literature at a very early age. His love of history and literature stems from that grounding. He has now retired and lives in Europe. Being a quite private individual, he has only ever written for his own leisure and enjoyment. Much encouragement from those close to him has finally seen his work in print.
