In the shadowy depths of naval history in the 1960s cold war period, a new Oberon class British submarine is commissioned with a new crew and captain, these are ordinary men with an extraordinary job to do and unknown dangers to overcome. HMS Orestes is newly equipped with secret but untested weapon systems. When Orestes embarks on a covert mission under the enigmatic leadership of Captain Jeff Hawks, her crew faces the harrowing challenges of torpedo trials amidst treacherous waters. They play the war games necessary to be ready for any new Soviet provocation, but there are traitors lurking within their own ranks, who are they, how will this story end and will Orestes hold secrets that will be long buried beneath the waves? Steeped in naval tradition and shrouded in secrecy, Orestes is a gripping tale of bravery, betrayal and the relentless pursuit of truth beneath the ocean's surface.

G. J. Lewis

G J Lewis grew up in Redhill, Surrey. The only child of a war widow, his upbringing was unorthodox and isolating for much of his youth. The house had an extensive library, but with no books for children, and so he learned to read quite advanced literature at a very early age. His love of history and literature stems from that grounding. He has now retired and lives in Europe. Being a quite private individual, he has only ever written for his own leisure and enjoyment. Much encouragement from those close to him has finally seen his work in print.
