Recently we read Living Cruelty Free - Live a more compassionate life by Jennifer Thomson. And we adored it! A wonderful look on how to be more kind to yourself and animals. And most importantly, which brands deserve attention and our precious pennies!
Here’s the blurb:
"Living Cruelty Free: Live a More Compassionate Life, is a one-stop shop for living a more compassionate lifestyle without it costing the earth. Its the book the author wishes had been available to her when she became a vegetarian 29 years ago and it offers tips and advice on how we can be kinder to animals and each other, and live a kinder life. It’s an essential guide for anyone who wants to - *Become a more ethical shopper *To avoid buying the cruelest things on the planet, like fur, Foie gras, lobster, and clothes made using slave labour. *There are also tips on how to go free range, become vegetarian and vegan, or just to reduce your meat intake, and to make sure the cosmetics you buy are not tested on animals."
It can be bought now on amazon and kindle and we really recommend it!
We were inspired by Jennifer’s book so much we decided to do our own list of cruelty free products! (All products below can be purchased at Superdrug in the UK).
So, the following below are cruelty free brands with vegan options (most of the websites state which products are vegan).
We literally went through every brand on the Superdrug website and researched if they were cruelty free. Some of these I couldn’t find an answer for so they are now in the ‘grey area’ – personally I would not touch any brand unless I know for sure if they are cruelty free. So, the grey area products are not on this list. I assume they do test on animals as it’s a very common question now days and if they haven’t answered it, they must have chosen not to. Sneaky sneaky companies.
