Exploring such themes with eloquence and imagination, Everything for Somebody is an affecting collection of personal poetry that pushes boundaries of form, reflecting many all-embracing experiences.
Flowers of Spring
I rub my hands free from the earth but beneath my nails
remain hostages.
The push and pull of rock and weed have elevated my thirst
and wonder.
What will spring bring this year?
The rogue wild daffodil or the tulips planted from all the
Easters gone by.
The robin nearby feasts on worms that have nowhere to
hide due to Earth’s dry ground.
The squirrel hugs the bird feeder like it’s the last dance of
the night.
My lips touch the glass, and the flowers seem jealous for
they know.
They must wait in line.
I remove the weight off my feet and feel a sense of renewal
and hope.
Just as the hope of these flowers, these flowers of spring.
