Trish Devine grew up at the foot of the mountain in Taranaki, New Zealand, with a love of books and an inexplicable fascination for Japan.
Teaching in multicultural communities and gaining a degree in social anthropology formalised her cultural interests, cementing skills for researching and writing historic fiction. While living in Hiroshima, Japan, she learned how a new future can emerge from a soul-destroying past.
