A tribe of humans migrate south from North America in search of new territory. The journey is difficult, but they finally arrive in tropical jungle, where there appear to be no other inhabitants. However, the tribe splits when they fall victim to the tropical diseases of their new environment, and, when some tribe-members leave to start their own village, the new arrivals soon discover that the land is not empty after all and must defend themselves from attack by hostile forces.

Joanna Buckle was first published as an eight-year-old for the collection of children's writing We Live in Wales, and was awarded a prize for poetry in the Poems for Peace children's competition at the same age. Joanna is a poet and fiction writer who has worked as an English language teacher for nine years, most recently for The American University of Sharjah. She has also worked for The University of Wollongong in Dubai as an IELTS Examiner and Instructor, Middlesex University in London and across China, as a teacher and examiner, and The Higher Colleges of Technology, UAE. Joanna began her career teaching children in Taiwan and China. She has an MA in English Language Teaching from The University of Reading, and a BA in English Literature and Language from The University of Birmingham. Joanna has published several articles on the topic of of English language teaching with English Teaching Professional, Modern English Teacher, EFL Magazine and EFL Gazette. She is currently studying for a Masters' Degree in journalism at The University of the West of England. She is also currently researching her next book of non-fiction: Teaching Asian Learners - Intercultural Communication, Language and Methodology.
