This is what it feels like to grow up in the shadow of love that never quite chooses you.
Across years and versions of herself, eleven, sixteen, nineteen, she circles the same ache: wanting, waiting, almost being seen. Lovers blur into symbols, memories into shrines, and desire into something both sacred and self-destructive.
“i build a house around him;
but it doesn’t mean he lives there.”
“help yourself to me, as much as you want.
let me be nothing but yours.”
Raw, intimate, and unflinching, the plastic in my mouth traces the slow unraveling of illusion and the fragile, necessary act of choosing yourself after everything else falls away.
