Devlin Woodhouse takes one-gallon showers to conserve water. It's March 2035, and Phoenix, Arizona, hasn't received rain for five years. To pay the bills, Devlin audits news stories to ensure they accurately state the facts. As he is ending his audit of the Phoenix Daily Journal, he finds that a source a journalist used for his stories has gone missing. As Devlin investigates, his boss goes missing, and two retired journalists are murdered. Soon, he finds the Phoenix Daily Journal, Arizona politicians, and powerful businessmen intend to provide water for Phoenix by stealing it from the Patumpka Indian Community. Can Devlin save the Community's future, or will he join the missing and the murdered?

Robert Russin

Robert Russin has always preferred the imaginary world of stories compared to the linear grind of accounting and auditing. Like all others, he has wondered what the afterlife is like. Light Burns is his interpretation of that life. He likes the expanse of the desert and the force of a summer thunderstorm. He is a member of the Ahwatukee Writers Group, whose guidance has been invaluable.
