I am a retired solicitor and law lecturer. I spent forty years conducting criminal cases from the trivial to the very serious, including murder, rape, etc. All the stories and incidents described are true to the best of my recollections, involving real people including criminals, police officers, members of the public, and the legal profession.

James Cullen
James Cullen entered the legal profession one week before his twenty-first birthday in 1968. For the next nearly forty years, he was involved in criminal law, having conducted serious cases such as murder, some of which are mentioned in this book, and petty cases such as shoplifting. During this time, he qualified as a solicitor and became a lecturer at the Open University. He was forced to retire from both occupations after having a heart operation and other treatments. He lives in Liverpool with his wife. He has a daughter, a son, and six grandchildren.
