The book is a collection of moving, true life stories told in the words of ex-prisoners, who vividly express the spiritual liberty they experienced as a result of responding in faith to the Gospel of Christ. It also considers how the Gospel effected two national leaders and describes the challenges involved in operating a sex offender residential Christian hostel. It is the second book that Peter Denison has written about prison ministry - the first being, Freedom for Prisoners.

Peter Denison was commissioned from the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst, into the Duke of Edinburgh's Royal Regiment. He resigned his commission in the rank of Captain in order to commence training as a probation officer: he remained in the Probation Service for thirty-seven years. After becoming a Christian in 1974, he was involved in various Christian offender rehabilitation related charities, including the Probation Service Christian Fellowship (National Chairman), Prison Fellowship (South East England Coordinator) and Stepping Stones Trust (SST Chairman for twenty-eight years), receiving an OBE for his work in SST.
