In Drifting with Precision, Vince is haunted by a traumatic evening that shatters his perception of himself. The night Marie's father's violent outburst leaves Vince paralyzed with guilt and self-loathing becomes a touchstone, making him face the harsh reality of his own weaknesses. He uses the experience to shape and consolidate his emerging view of the world around him. Responding to the influence of his grandfather and other people around him, he embarks on a drama-filled personal journey. Vince's progress is set against the backdrop of the passion, controversy and conflict of 1970s politics. He grows from a youthful rebel to a maturing young man, developing his relationships through a series of significant personal experiences. His handling of injustices and tragedy becomes central to his understanding. This powerful narrative explores, through smiles and tears, the themes of guilt, personal failure and the harsh truths of self-worth.

Paul Harland

Paul Harland lives in the city of Durham in the north of England. He was a lecturer in English, drama and education at various times and dabbled relentlessly in a variety of arts activities - youth drama, community drama, writing workshops, member of a rock band, turning up on occasions on local TV and radio, and several years as a hospital radio presenter! The dabbling stopped and he started to focus mainly on writing. His first two novels, A Windfall of Secrets and The Anger Beneath, were self-published. He continues to write novels, and no one will stop him!
