The author is a retired microbiologist who spent fifty-four years in the field. He worked on the island of St?Helena for nearly four years and spent the last twenty-three years conducting human and animal research for Oxford University, based in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. He enjoys sharing stories about his experiences and also sketches and paints in his spare time. He has been married for fifty-one years to his wife, a former high school mathematics teacher. They have a son, a Vietnamese daughter-in-law, and two grandsons. The entire family lives together in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
