Clara Fortesque is a well-to-do Lady living in her old Victorian House, in a little village outside London, Blackheath. She has been alone since her husband passed away, her two children live abroad, both her children have two children each.
Clara, although she is on her own, is a happy soul. She enjoys life, has a dry sense of humour, is cheerful, kind-hearted, and willing to help anyone who needs her. Every Thursday, she enjoys tea at her favourite café, seeing little Emily, though not a young child anymore, but a caring nineteen-year-old waitress. Clara is a good cook and does her own cooking from scratch. She likes to give people, on occasions, her delicious home-made pickles, jams, and her new baked fruit pies.
She visits the hairdresser for her routine hair styles, every Thursday without fail. Sometimes, we think that our lives are going on in a mundane boring existence day to day, but in some circumstances, we find just around the corner a surprise awaits us in an unusual time and place, with an opportunity that makes things change, with good endings.
