Detecting a hurricane is one thing, but, like human life, predicting where it will go is another.
Set in the wilderness of southern Florida, Riders From The Storm grips the reader as the 1935 hurricane, the worst ever recorded, sweeps through the lives in its path, slaughtering the wealthy and poor alike and leaving some with nothing but torn clothes. It is an epic story of three men, a woman, and a boy, in an enthralling tale of love, strength, survival, and the power of the human spirit, capturing the complexities of 20th-century America

An established writer best known for his books Riders from the Storm and Making a Friend Smile, Paul writes from experience, having travelled extensively and living in London, Amsterdam, Philadelphia and Miami. He was recently interviewed by the BBC about his work. His writing explores themes of redemption after loss and recovery amid complex social cultures. His Kilimanjaro climb in 2007 with his brother Peter and friend Mikey Herbert inspired this story. Each morning, the sun rose at six a.m. and set at six p.m. Each evening, after they had set up camp on the side of the mountain, he listened to the personal stories of the porters, guides, cooks and assistants.
