Dennis Coath looks back on a career spanning more than forty years as a sport reporter working on newspapers, radio, and television.
In Rats, Pies, and Pigeon Poo, he recounts many amazing and hilarious experiences. The title of the book comes from those trials and tribulations. Facing giant rats; paddling through pigeon poo and eating a mouldy pie ... all in his duties as an intrepid TV reporter. It is a glamorous career! Dennis also recalls dodging a hail of bricks in Istanbul and avoiding a fusillade of full beer cans hurled by French rugby fans. He faced the militia's machine guns in Bilbao, was severely bitten by a horse and terrified by lizards and cobras in Vietnam. He chronicles his interviews and tales about Muhammad Ali, Ayrton Senna, Jonah Lomu, Peter Shilton, Rod Stewart and Ken Dodd, among others.

Dennis also gives many useful tips to guide up-and-coming journalists looking to forge a career.
