The author is the son of a coalminer who went to a privileged London public school under a government scholarship. He spent thirty years of his life mainly in England and fifty years in Australia. He married shortly after arriving in Sydney and he and his wife have raised four daughters, two of whom are accountants and two are teachers. This is his first book.
