Times have changed a lot in the Oil and Gas business since Mitch Jago first sat on a draughting stool as a young ‘piper' in the 1970s.
In this book - full of heart and humour - he takes you through it all, the long boozy lunches, the all expenses paid trips around the world, the highs, the lows, and, of course, the elaborate practical jokes.
As time has gone by, safety concerns, climate change, outsourcing and technology have altered the working environment irrevocably, but in this memoir, you can get a glimpse of how things were done, with a nod to how they should continue in the future and allow you to make up your own mind.

Mitch Jago

Mitch Jago was born in Canada and educated at Ilford County High Grammar School for Boys in Essex. He joined an apprenticeship for oil and gas piping designers in the seventies, then went on to command leadership roles occasionally, managing teams of a hundred or more engineers and designers based in multiple, global offices. Mitch has been fortunate to have travelled extensively throughout his career and for the third (and last) time, is married to Erica after they met while he was on an assignment in South Africa. His interests outside the piping circles include cooking, golf, chess, photography and movie music while he might be seen at any given time in Stratford, East London cheering on his favourite football team, West Ham United. He has two children and four grandchildren and continues to support global energy projects from his base in England.
