Written from the perspective of a four-year-old little boy, Charlie is aware that 'Mum knows best' and 'Grandrad knows about everything' because he is tall, quite old, and has a white beard of course. The excitement of grangad's arrival in his big black truck and the anticipation of another tall and quite exaggerated adventure with grangrad and his friends such as Jelly Baby Joe, Leaky Lee the Plumber and Icey Mikey, provides a great fun children's read. With a mixture of facts, mispronunciation, pure exaggeration and four-year-old innocent assumptions, Charlie and Grangrad's adventures take them on journeys to the wide open salt & vinegar chip fields of Trumpington, to the spaghetti trees of the Caribbean and to the ice cream rivers next to Mrs. Tinkies tea rooms in Iceland. The book contains subjects of modern realism including an environmentally friendly family of dinosaurs and fun characters such as James the sea lion from Africa, all wrapped in a  world of family-friendly escapism to highlight little Charlie's relationship with his Grangrad and their tall adventures.
