John Virgo Brown was born in west London in 1951. He completed his education at the University of Surrey, graduating with a degree in microbiology in 1973, and spent his working life in the food and dairy industries. He retired in 2013, and in a futile attempt to avoid getting under his wife's feet, took a course in creative writing. This is his first novel.
