Margaret Mary Kilgallon was born in Glasgow's Eastend in the year 1951. She is one of five siblings. She met and married her husband John and went on to have five children. Margaret started mother and toddler groups, and became a foster parent, this inspired her interest in child development and education. Subsequently Margaret opened her own nursery in 1993 in which she still takes an active role in management, assisted greatly by her eldest daughter Margaret-Louise. In 2011 Margaret obtained a BA degree in Early Years Education from Dundee University.
