When we are faced with extreme hardship, we all crave an escape be it physical or mental. When Jean Scott was trapped in a relationship of violence and abuse, she escaped into a world of poetry.
Collected here are poems not just reflecting her internal world, but looking out and making sense of the world around her. Humorous poems are interwoven with those of personal emotion. Recollections of times gone by interplay with observations of the modern world and introspection on humanity as a whole.
Rest assured, there will be something within these pages for any poetry lover.

Let me introduce myself to you. My name is Jean Scott, aged sixty-six and I am a widow. I have a progressive disease which is known as rheumatoid arthritis, and have been housebound for almost four years. I have written poetry intermittently most of my life, but in these last four years I have exceeded my own expectations by completing three hundred poems during this period of time. My greatest desire is that this publication will give others the determination to achieve something in their life, whatever their circumstances may be.
