Richard Price used to make up short stories to tell his young daughter at bedtime. Some of them he wrote down, and she would read them when she got older. Then he wrote a few short stories for adults, and in one, needed a poem, so attempted his first ever. He found it very rewarding, so turned to writing poetry and worked to continually improve his skills and technique. But at the heart of it is his enjoyment of creating a poem that he finds a pleasure to read and hopes others do too.
