Nigel Crofts composed his first poem while cycling home from work at the age of sixteen, back in 1979. A few years later, he wrote the novel you see here. Despite writing poetry being his prime interest (even this novel has an element of poetry in it), over the passing years, Punchline has become as profoundly touching as the deepest verse. It is true to say (like all art) that it has strong autobiographical elements to it while chronicling the lives of billions. He would like to say writing is a hobby, but he realises now it's more of an obsession.
