Daniel Stepner is a professional violinist who has led a varied musical life as a chamber and orchestral musician and as an occasional soloist. He has recorded extensively, including the complete solo violin works of J.S. Bach, the sonatas and quartets of Charles Ives, and the Ten Preludes of Eugéne Ysaÿe. He has taught at Brandeis and Harvard Universities, and in teaching stints at the Eastman School, New England Conservatory, and the Longy School. He has written program notes and musical commentary for several publication. At present, he is Artistic Director of the Aston Magna Festival and Foundation in Massachusetts.
