Information about Winfred Peppinck
Winfred Marcel Peppinck was born in The Hague, Netherlands on 2 January, 1946, which makes him one of the world's first "baby boomers". At the age of two he travelled to the Dutch East Indies and in 1951 his parents emigrated to Perth, Western Australia where young Winfred was most parochially educated (He grew up thinking the Middle East was South Australia and the Far East anything beyond!). After obtaining an Honours degree in Politics, he joined the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs as a Diplomatic Trainee and had assignments in Brazil, South Africa, Uganda and Indonesia. During the 1990's he served as the Senior Adviser to the President of the Australian Senate. From 2001 to 2004 he was the Australian High Commissioner/Ambassador to the Caribbean.

In 2002, Miss Wendy joined Winfred in the Caribbean and their first "off-spring", the Diplomatic Dog (DD for short), a stray from the beaches of Barbados, took up residence at the Official Residence in March 2002. Miss Lucy, another stray of dubious parentage, joined the family in August. Both Winfred and Miss Wendy have been married previously and they have five children between them. In 2004, Winfred left the Australian Foreign Service to take up a position as an Adviser in the Prime Minister's Court in Bahrain and to ensure the dogs of a respectable parentage, he and Miss Wendy were married at a glittering sunset ceremony in Barbados on 7 April 2004. In July 2004, at vast expense, the two Barbados strays joined Winfred and Miss Wendy in the desert kingdom

The Diplomatic Dog of Barbados is Winfred's first literary effort although he has written an unpublished anthology of humorous happenings during his many years of working with parliamentarians and a "sort of book" for his children, about his growing up in Western Australia in the 1950's and 60's.
