When Baz Price's wife Laura became pregnant with their first child, Baz was keen to have a hands-on role during the first months of their child's life. However, when Baz discovered after a lengthy wait that his employer only offered biological fathers Shared Parental Leave at the statutory rate, the couple realised that it was financially unworkable for Baz to share the parental responsibilities, forcing Laura to take her full Maternity Leave instead of sharing leave with Baz.
Incensed at the injustice Baz saw in their situation, they embarked on a fight to challenge this policy, taking his employer to court in an Employment Tribunal Hearing and beyond. In Breaking Dad: Man-Up Snowflake, Baz illuminates the story of his more than two-year long struggle to fight for the right of biological fathers to be offered enhanced parental leave on par with birth mothers and adoptive parents.

I am a very fortunate man to have two healthy and confident children, and an incredible partner who holds my hand through the maze of life and parenting, my wife Laura. I have been blessed with two incredibly loving and supportive parents, the bar is set very high, and I intend to be the best possible parent I can be. I am very grateful to have had this book published and sincerely hope it encourages more conversations about the unmet needs of contemporary parenting in the UK.
