A young woman has a dream about a journey where she is hiking in a prairie and red rock area with other people. She strays off the path and finds a rock window, where she sees buffalo grazing far below. As she looks more closely, she is surprised to see a white buffalo, when she thought all buffalo were brown! Upon waking from the dream, the young woman searches to see if white buffalo exist in the world. She discovers a beautiful Lakota-Sioux story about White Buffalo Woman, a sacred messenger to the tribe many years ago, who appeared as a white buffalo. Even today, many tribes revere the white buffalo as a sign from the Great Spirit. In the last few decades, some of these extremely rare animals have been born in the United States, and their birth has been widely celebrated. This is a story of hope.
