About Book

Leslie Checkley's jobs and hobbies have included heavy engineering, gardening, oil painting, dancing and being a naval cadet. Such a long and varied life is now illustrated in this collection of poetry encompassing all subjects that interest the writer, from the grief of WWII widows and parents, via wildlife in the spring, the joy of looking back down memory lane, an ode to James Bond, and one to the trees. There is even some wonderful advice on what sort of shoes you need, for the dance that will cheer you up today!

The mood varies from quirky observational humour to sadness and back. Wherever you are, whatever your mood, there's something here for you to enjoy.
