The Treehouse tells amusing stories of a young boy's childhood.
After an adventurous flight, the child and his family settle in a quiet suburb of Athens. The quiet does not last long. The boy rebels against ridiculous and oppressive obsessions of adults, such as afternoon siesta and compulsory schooling. Armed with a slingshot he creates havoc in the neighbourhood.
But fighting against injustice to children is more fun when done collectively. He joins a gang of local kids with the same beliefs, and distinguishes himself in rebellious mischief.
Amusing friendships are formed with a judge, a priest, an extra-terrestrial tourist and a musical dog-prodigy.
The Treehouse by Chris Dashmore owes its title to a small wooden cabin that was built by the boy in an olive tree to serve as a refuge from menacing adults. The author claims that the treehouse is still up there, as purposeful and functional as ever.

The Treehouse is Chris Dashmore's sixth satirical book but it is the first that is written in English and published outside Greece. The other five titles are Handbook for Prime Ministers (intended for the entire Greek population), Havoc in Euthera (a parody of Herodotus Histories), Nobelhellenic Neurosis (in Greece everyone writes poetry but no one reads it), Vacancies for Good-for-Nothing Consultants (a prophesy for the financial crisis of 2008) and The Fifth Presence (correlating cantankerous journalism with social disorders).
When not writing, Chris Dashmore plays the cello. Before marriage he performed only solo pieces. Nowadays he plays in a family orchestra that comprises three generations.
