When in Dublin, she worked with people with physical disabilities and was an athletics coach at Paralympics and World Championships. On retirement she and her husband Lionel returned to live in Derbyshire and enjoy the delights of the Peak District. This gave her more time to write. About Book

Richard Salter is the 13-year-old son and apprentice of a fish seller, who lives in the City of York, where there is great excitement among the Fishers and Mariners Guild and their friends about the upcoming pageant, the Mystery Plays, which are to be attended this year by King Henry VII.

While preparing for the pageant, Richard sees odd things happening. He witnesses a ‘gift' being wrapped in a fish and passed surreptitiously, and notices much whispering into ears by Master Leyton, the toll master. How is Gervase, the page from York Castle, involved and what is he hiding? What is happening that makes them so secretive?

Richard and his friend Nick, the bootmaker's son, believe a plot is afoot, but what is it? Richard's sister, Ellen, is determined to help them find out what is to happen. Have they discovered a genuine threat to the King? Or is it all part of the pageant?
