Yves Marie Robin

I was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. My parents emigrated to New York (USA) where I moved at age eleven and spent much of my adolescence. I attented what was then one of the finest high schools in the city (Brooklyn Technical High School). Upon graduation, I was admitted to Vassar college in Poughkeepsie (New York) for four years, where I majored in French. It was at Vassar that I wrote most of the poems figuring in this anthology. I sought, at first, a literary career but circumstances and new acquaintances shifted my goals and I studied medicine. My family moved to Florida while I was enrolled in a pre-medical program in CEGEP (Montreal, Canada) for two years and then continued on to medical school in France (Marseilles, Clermon-Ferrand,Lille).

I have been married for fourteen years to Anne-Marie and am a father of two young children, Myriam and Charles-Emmanuel. I currently live in France where I work as the director of the pathology department of the Oscar Lambret Center Hospital in Lille.

About Book

Poet Yves Marie Robin has dedicated this collection of his poems to Vassar College (Poughkeepsie, New York, USA) for two reasons. Firstly, he wrote the majority of the poems whilst he was studying at the college and secondly he describes Vassar as the scene of the most engaging of his youth.
As a talented writer and musician Yves Marie Robin found the way to overcome his crippling shyness whilst in college. One of life's observers and contemplators his discovery of poetry helped him to fit in with his fellow students and to form relationships. Many of which inspired the poetry in this collection.
Not a chronological journey through his student days, but a random selection of his poetry from those formative years, this is a wonderful insight into the loves and relationships of his early life.
