During their late summer holiday break, Toby, Libby and Olive Adamson move into their quaint rented accommodation, Kingfisher Cottage, situated outside the main entrance to Didsvale Manor. An anonymous invitation is pushed through their letterbox. They discover later that they alone have been invited by the eccentric Captain Ahab McCrab, who asks them to look after the park while he's away, even though they have no experience of park-keeping. He leaves them with a key each that has been bequeathed to them by a mysterious benefactor.

He also asks them to remember a strange rhyme: ‘As the last of eight bells ends its ring, mighty Argyll will take to wing. He'll billow your sails and give you speed, to Pamona Atoll for the juice you need'. Ahab warns them that Tarquini Scumbali, Lord of Didsvale Manor, is not the generous benefactor he would have everyone believe, and they learn that he has sinister and ulterior motives...

Peter J Hossack-Gilberts

Peter has always opened up his imagination to creative challenges. Having spent most of his professional career surrounded by a wide variety of top-line creative individuals ranging from visualisers, illustrators and copywriters within product brand development, he concedes that by being in close proximity to such talents for so long that some of it has ‘rubbed-off' on him finally being able to put pen to paper as a ‘surreal' story writer. This is his first published children's novel. He lives in Warrington, Cheshire, with his wife Pauline.
