Jools Lee

From mid-2013 to December 2015, I was fortunate enough to be Radio Norfolk's very own Friday poet on the Stephen Bumfrey afternoon show. I delivered lunches to the BBC, so had an easier inroad than others, but fully embraced the opportunity to recite live on air my home-grown writings. Being introduced as the bard of the baguette, the poet of the pastry, and songsmith of the sandwich, always raised a smile, and, to be honest, it really focused my mind on exploring avenues along which to express myself differently through the medium of poetry.

About Book

Jools Lee has recently been the Friday Poet on Steven Bumfrey's Radio Norfolk show. Lee is otherwise known, thanks to his other role delivering lunches, as the Bard of the Baguette, the Poet of the Pastry, and the Songsmith of the Sandwich. Phew! Words from a Welshman illustrates Lee's talent and range in printed form. Lee's verse is alive with his pleasure in the crackle and texture of language, and the same voice which has entertained Norfolk's radio audience can now be enjoyed on the page. Lee has a wide range, and poems treat a variety of topics, from comical and affectionate satires to calmer, more meditative, reflections on love and family relationships. Whatever Lee's subjects, his confections will always slip down in a moment and leave you feeling amused, surprised, or delighted - and sometimes all three.
