Victoria Rowe

I am a recently retired mental health nurse, the mother of four biological daughters and one stepdaughter. I have struggled for many years helping others through mental disorders, while burying my own somewhere deep within my mind. I am enjoying writing poetry, and I hope you all enjoy reading this, too.

About Book

Victoria Rowe currently works as a mental health nurse. She is also a poet, whose writing explores every aspect of a varied and intensely lived life. From tender portraits of her father, a miner who worked in back-breaking conditions to support his family, to heartfelt accounts of her deep affection for her children and grandchildren, Rowe's collection shows her as a woman of strong attachments and vivid memories. At the same time, her verse is not afraid to explore the more painful sides of life, in poems which unflinchingly examine her relationships with men, relationships which have often been troubled and have always been complex. There is space, too, for vivid accounts of friendships and of her much-valued colleagues at work. My Eventful Life is a record in verse of one woman's joys and griefs and of how she has survived them.
