Tracey Ryan

Tracey Ryan describes herself as ‘A little Aussie sheila with a few yarns to tell'; she courageously writes in her first published novella about the taboo topics of family abuse, suicide and murder. Her aim is to challenge perspectives and promote discussion which may bring about new understandings of the world in which we live.

Tracey holds a Bachelor of Education (Primary) from Curtin University of Technology in Perth, Western Australia. She has a keen interest in the dynamics of families, and how relationships within families and the belief systems and situations of individual families impact pedagogy.

About Book

A woman hangs herself from the balcony of her own apartment block, and at once all the machinery of the emergency services kicks into life. Who is she? Why is her apartment so unusually clean and neat? And, strangest of all, how has it come about that her suicide has apparently taken place at precisely the same time as the murder of the very man whose incessant violence towards her and her children has driven her to this desperate act? Tracey Ryan's surprising short novel is both a murder mystery and an eloquent plea for an end to domestic violence. In the course of its unpredictable twists and turns, the damage wrought in too many homes is unflinchingly explored. Yet, at the same time, Ryan finds, amidst despair, some powerful resources for hope.
