When World War Two makes military service an inevitability, Enzo Falcone decides to enlist in the Italian military rather than wait for conscription. Trained as a doctor, he is stationed on the hospital ship, The Valletta. After Italy's surrender, he is well treated as a POW in England, where he meets his wife.
But the Allied forces have plans for The Valletta, and they want those familiar with her back on board.
Can Enzo's fledgling marriage cope with the demands of a ship in wartime? And will his new colleagues accept their former adversaries as equals?
Join the crew of this repurposed luxury cruise ship as they make their way through erupting volcanoes and the carnage of a world war to forge new friendships and change the course of history.
