Do age and experience bury the joy of youth or burnish it?

Can anyone truly remember their childhood as they experienced it, or is
hindsight forever obscured and distorted as ever more
water passes under the bridge?

Pitting his pen against the pitfalls of these challenges, John Carter has rendered his
childhood memories into verse and Kip's Dream, and more than Kip's
Dream
, is the result. More, for he has captured the essence of much else
besides: the quiet expectation of Christmas, the deep, tranquil
breath of autumn, dappled sunglight and destiny, of
mortality or the lack thereof.

He even gives us a jester who is funny.

Whether lovers of the age of steam or foxed about the fuss, whether connoisseurs of verse or just curious, Kip's Dream is a gift from the past that readers of
all ages and backgrounds will enjoy unwrapping.

Welcome to John Carter's world.

John Carter

Born in Holyport, Berkshire in 1940 John Carter attended Ellington Junior School, being the youngest player in the school football team. He fully discovered his sense of humour at Gordon Road secondary school. Gaining his City and Guilds in response to the college principal's suggestion that he might have a link missing, he worked first as a compositor and later as a private haulier, accumulating anecdotes from 1972 to 2020. An amateur dramatist and judo black belt, in 1967 he married Maureen Connolly, who blessed him with two children, Christopher in 1969 and Eleanor in 1971. He now lives in Burnham, where he is passionate about the countryside and classical music.
