We might argue that reading is a critical ingredient in the recipe for a good life. You could argue that we’re biased- and perhaps you wouldn’t be completely wrong- but there is nothing quite like immersing yourself in new worlds or finding inspiration in the paper wonderland of a good book.
Today- March 2nd 2023- marks the annual World Book Day across the UK and Ireland. World Book Day, for those somehow not in the know, is an annual charity event that carries with it a simple but powerful mission statement; encourage reading for leisure- especially among young people- and offer children the opportunity to have a book of their own.
The World Book Day Charity firmly believes that reading is paramount to a child’s success in life, stating that they wish to see children from disadvantaged backgrounds have the opportunity to embrace reading as a leisure activity. Since its inception, the charity has offered an array of £1/€1.50 books, which have been made available in braille, audio and large print in addition to the standard issues. You can find out more about this wonderful charity and their achievements via their website.
As an independent publisher, we echo World Book Day’s message and objective, and would like to take this opportunity to emphasise our passion for realising the ideas and stories of authors from around the world, and consequently, our passion for bringing those stories to the bookshelves of keen readers.
