L. J. Heron has enjoyed the serene port city of Southport along the Carolina coast for many years. The quiet village and waterfront swings have led to many days pondering the changing plight of women. With all the strides for freedom women have made, Heron felt that a lot of us "Good Girls" have allowed society to keep them trapped in an unhappy marriage and life. She herself was one such women. Fiftyish, retired, empty nester, unhappy and resenting her husband more and more for ruining every day.
