JOHN SPIKE
My original name is János Czoevek, and I was born in Hungary in 1981. I started learning arts and visual communication in 1995. I finished university in 2007 where I studied to become an art teacher and graphic designer. My relationship with children’s books began in my childhood, when I wrote lots of books with my own stories and pictures. I’ve never given up my love of children’s stories.
ANDREW MARTIN
I am Andrew Martin and I am enchanted by storytelling. During my Ladybird book fuelled childhood I would spend hours keeping myself amused by proudly writing and drawing short stories of my own in exercise books. I’ve since used storytelling to help explain a range of history topics. In 2011 I was fortunate to narrate and provide character voices for the audiobook version of 'Edward Hopper And The Carrot Crunch’ by Mike Smith, the winner of the Macmillan Prize for Children's Book Illustration.
