Gideon Samid

Gideon Samid

Growing up in young ‘build and defend' Israel, Gideon (Gid'don) Samid kept his literary pen in the drawer, focusing instead on security, technology, engineering - planning to become a writer when he is too old to do the things writers write about. Technology took him around the world, to coal mines, to NASA, to Exxon, to the Pentagon. Most recently Gideon designed a global digital currency, BitMint, and quantum-randomized cryptographic tools, BitFlip. Reveling with innovation (over forty patent applications filed), Gid'don, doggedly, developed his carefully-honed conviction: while we are all so impressed with what we know, intellectual inertia keeps humans in a state of unbound ignorance, subject to irrational insistence on a comforting explanation to reality. We ought to respect our deep-seated spiritual yearning for which sexual intimacy is life's highway. This conviction could not be captured by a mathematical formula, and so that forgotten literary pen was pulled out from the drawer to write Gideon's first novel. He used his own life story as a crutch, but weaved a free-flowing fictional tale of a lifelong struggle for meaning and consequence, using one's sexual experience as a torch to light the darkness ahead.
