Edith Helen Stone-Jackson was born in Detroit, Michigan. She graduated from the Detroit Public School System and was awarded piano certificates from the Royal Conservatory of Music of Toronto, Canada. Leaving home, she chose to attend Eastern Michigan University. Studies in human health at the Aquarian Center in California led her to attain an AS, concentrating on Medical Laboratory Technology from Wayne County Community College in Detroit. She attended many universities and colleges before she graduated from Michigan State University, with a BA from the College of Urban Development. A writing fellowship from University of Nevada, Las Vegas inspired her to attain secondary teaching credentials in both science and social sciences.
